Rateanalysis for steel requires estimation of materials for Plastering work, i.e. quantity of Cement, and sand required for 1 sqm plaster work for column, beam, slab, wall i.e. So, we know that the quantity of cement & and in 1 sqm so we can find out the require material for providing, mixing, and laying a plastering work in a place. Plastering work is different as compare to place to place like ceiling, wall etc, and it is also depend upon ratio. Plaster unit is in sqm because the thickness of plaster is fixed i.e. 12.5 mm or thickness of plaster is specified on specification.

Most knowing point for rate analysis
When you start doing rate analysis we must remember these points:
-          Item for rate analysis (Name of the Item i.e. PCC, Plastering, Steel, Brickwork etc. )
-          Specification (type of material, quality of material etc.)
-          Unit (per Sqm, Cum, Rm etc.)
-          Labour
-          Material
-          Overhead (Profit for contractor)

Material  Requirement
Cement (ceiling)
            We have to calculate amount of cement required for 100 sqm plaster, the quantity is too small for 1 sqm so that we can calculate rate of 100 sqm than we convert amount into per sqm. Generally the ratio of ceiling plaster is 1:3 & wall plaster is 1:4 for exterior or exterior so we provide cement quantity for 100 sqm is 625 kg for ceiling (538 kg for wall) so we clearly mention all the detail of material on its specification.

Sand (ceiling)
We have to calculate amount of sand required for 100 sqm plaster, the quantity is too small for 1 sqm so that we can calculate rate of 100 sqm than we convert amount into per sqm. Generally the ratio of ceiling plaster is 1:3 & wall plaster is 1:4 for exterior or exterior so we provide quantity of sand for 100 sqm is 1.28 cum for ceiling (1.46 for wall) so we clearly mention all the detail of material on its specification.

Estimation of Labour and Tools for Cement Plaster (ceiling):

For 100 sqm of plaster with  cement and sand, unskilled labour is required for 20 man-days for Providing of cement and sand, mixing of material, carrying of material at site. Skilled labour is required for 15 man-day for placing, checking of plaster work on required line level for 100 sqm.

Rate Analysis of Cement Plaster (ceiling 1:3) :

Rate analysis of Plaster work requires the rate of Cement, Sand multiplied with their respective quantity. Cost of labour and tools and tackles for the plaster work  is also calculated. Cost of cement, sand,  labour and tools depend on local availability and local rates.
When, quantity of Cement, sand (Free from mud), labour and tools are multiplied by its rates, and a contractors profit of 10-20% is assumed, the total sum of the amount is taken as the cost of 100 sqm of  plaster work, which is shown below, the rate of material may varies form place to place.
